Two girls travelling experience in Ella....

A week after Madulsima tour I have got a chance to indulge my wanderlust experience in Ella with my room mate. Visiting of Ella was one of most moving experience I ever had in my life. It was really amazing in December with cooler climatic feeling in hill country. We made our decision quick and packed our backpacks. We set off our journey by taking AC bus from Colombo fort to Bandarawela. We took the bus around 3.00pm and it was about 9.30pm when we arrived in Bandarawela. As My friend's home in Bandarawela I was able to stay in her place while planning our adventures together.

On Saturday we were planned to visit Ella without having no idea of which place to visit. We set off from her house around noon and we have got public transport for our first trip from Bandarawella to Ella junction.  Ella is an one beautiful place with fascinating surroundings which makes stay longer.  Ella is a small town with many foreign tourists all over the world and what makes us feel  as if we are now in out of Sri Lanka.  We had to get off at the Ella junction and we headed to nearest police hut to ask the route for the Mini Adam's peak. Then he was provided us a map of Ella which included all special places in the Ella area. It was really useful for us.

We took a bus ride along Passara Road from Ella Junction to the Mini Adam's Peak which cost Rs.10 distance . As it costs cheaper than taking tuk tuk ride.  We were advised by the policeman that they could hire Rs. 600 from us as the same price from foreigners. Next we walked  towards the Mini Adam's Peak. On our way we had visited 98 Acres Heli pad where we had our lunch while enjoying  the view of  98 Acres Resort and  it's lush tea estate. On the evening we began our hike to Little Adam's peak which is considered as closet and easiest hike in Ella. It is really fascinated with it's surrounding which makes us eco-friendly tourism. Misty mountains with nice cooler weather in Ella really attracts hikers. There are three peaks whereas we could hike two peaks because last one bit steep to climb. The hiking of Mini Adam's peak would take around one hour.

At the top of Mini Adams peak, the views were incredible and stunning. I found it as mind relaxing.

After hiking of Mini Adam's Peak, we came back to Ella town as it was getting darker. Ella town was colorful at night and we had some night walks over some streets.

That's how our first day adventure ends up and we took our bus off to home around 8'o clock. Besides, I got used to cooler climate in Bandarawela.

The following day we were planned to visit Nine arches Bridge and Ella rock. My friend's father also joined with us for this journey and we traveled by his van.
First place was to visit is Nine Arches Bridge but unfortunately we had taken a long pathway for that. The pathway which is quite difficult to climb, so that we got caught with a tuk tuk driver who doesn't allow us to escape. What a interesting story here is we have to bare his all inappropriate talks in advance patience since he gave us lift himself while we were walking on our way to Nine Arches and he did not left us until we pay him.
Whatever happened we won't leave our travelling sense. It is well-known fact that this bridge was made of solid bricks and cements without use of steel thanks to Appuhami. However, this was a great creation of linking Demodara and Ella under British colonial period. As I am fascinated with trains,  this made me aware about basic facts of bridge.

Easiest way to Nine Arches Bridge is through tunnel along rail road from Ella station

Our next stop was Ella Rock from Kithalella which is the easiest pathway via Forest monastery. Obviously it has been taking 4 hours to climb up and climb down from Ella station along railway through rubber plantations and tea estates. As it is tiring journey,  you have to be manageable  while trekking. Since even vehicles could climb up along the path which we had taken from Kithalella, we were able to reach forest monastery by van. Next we had to walk through the turpentine wood. The place where forest monastery stands seemed to be very peaceful with the tranquility of the surrounding.

Venturing through the woods is one of interesting part of Ella rock hiking. It is getting colder and windy when you reach to top peak of the rock. But it is worthwhile to see breathtaking panoramic views over  misty clouds. You would deserve to see most stunning views of Ella with green plains below. When you are at the top of rock, you could see the view of the Mini Adam's peak as well. I should say the views are incredible after strenuous trek but you should be cautious.
It advisable to take some water and snacks in your hike since it is tiring journey whereas we had Cassava for our lunch. The interesting story behind this was how we shared Cassava with German tourist couple and later I found that I was explained it by telling scientific name.  Well, that was me , as usual.
So we stayed some time while enjoying ourselves at the top peak. I found myself as bit acrophobic but I love hiking. Many tourists who comes to Ella town never forget to visit Ella rock as it is the most interesting and adventurous hike. Definitely the stunning views would make us stay longer.
Ella was my one of adventurous journey I ever visited, thanks to my friend Randima I was able to stay my all weekend while exploring these lovely places.
At last the travelling experience of two girls made it possible. I hope you enjoy..
